The mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglu of the opposition Republican Folks’s Get together (CHP) introduced he had been re-elected in Sunday’s native elections there.
“We’re in first place with a lead of greater than one million votes … We’ve gained the election,” he instructed reporters, including that 96 p.c of poll containers had been opened. The town topped the checklist of targets for President President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s ruling AKP after shedding it to Imamoglu in 2019.
