According to new reports, a former Chelsea player is poised to return to the Premier League in the summer 2024 transfer window.

As clubs look to complete key transfer decisions before the summer 2024 transfer window closes reports now indicate that a former Chelsea player and a current defender for Barcelona Andreas Christensen is set to make a shocking return to the Premier League with Newcastle United.

Barcelona are looking to sell Andreas Christensen this summer in hopes of freeing up enough space to register Dani Olmo for the 2024/2025 club football season and Newcastle United could be the destination for the Danish defender. The club is seeking €25 million for the Danish defender, who has attracted interest from Premier League clubs.

According to speculations, Newcastle have clearly made signing a defender a top priority heading into the final week of the transfer window, with Christensen one of many names linked with a move to St. James’ Park. It is not hard to believe that Christensen is a top target for Eddie Howe given his experience and ability as a defender.

Christensen had been a crucial part of Xavi Hernandez’s Barcelona setup since his move to Camp Nou in 2022 as the 28-year-old has deputized at left-back and also ended last season as the main pivot for the side.

However, the same is not the case with Hansi Flick, who prefers teenagers Marc Bernal and Marc Casado as defensive midfielders and also prefers the likes of Eric Garcia, Pau Cubarsi, Ronald Araujo and Jules Kounde over the Dane to fill in as first-team centre-backs.
