Fans on social media have hit back at Cristiano Ronaldo for comparing his Euros with Lionel Messi’s World Cup trophy.

Portugal secured a 2-0 win over Croatia in the UEFA Nations League, with Cristiano Ronaldo reaching a remarkable feat.

The football icon from Portugal surpassed Lionel Messi to score his 900th goal in his football career. 

Following his new record, Ronaldo made a statement after Portugal’s win that made fans have a go at him.

Ronaldo made a statement, comparing his Euro 2016 win to that of Messi’s World Cup trophy.

According to Fabrizio on X, Ronaldo said, “Portugal winning the Euros is the equivalent of winning the World Cup. 

“I’ve already won two trophies for Portugal that I really wanted, so I’m not motivated by that [World Cup].”

This comment led to a lot of reactions on X as fans blasted the five-time Ballon d’Or winner for his comparison.

One fans said, “I’m 100% sure he didn’t sleep the night Messi won the World Cup.”

Another fan replied, “Such a bitter guy, that’s why Messi is very clear. As long as he has no World Cup, he’s still Messi’s boy.”
